Race officials are very important to the successful running of club, state, national and international level races. There are many benefits for those who become involved as a qualified Race Official including the camaraderie of others involved, the pride of running good racing and opportunity to travel within Australia and overseas to other regattas. There are a number of race officials course being held over the next few months. If you would like to update your skills please make sure you book into one of the courses in the table below.

If there is not a course being held in your area and there are enough people interested in attending we are happy to work out a time that suits the group and come to you. Usually we require 10 students to conduct a course.
Club Race Officer – Course outline
The club race officer course provides a good overview of the methods of conducting club races and is suitable for anyone who is involved with helping to run races or responsible for running club level races. The course can also be very insightful for sailors who can gain an understanding of what to expect from race management which will enable them to improve their racing.

Note that the Club Race Officer Course can be conducted at your Club if you have 10 or more students and allow members from other clubs to attend.
State and National Race Officer – Course outline.
The State/National course is designed for those who want to run races at the State and National Level or for those who want a more detailed understanding of how race management operates at the higher level. It is also important for those who wish to progress to running international level regattas.

Club Judge – Course outline
The club judge’s course is for those who are prepared to sit on club protest committees to hear and decide protests at a club level. This is the first step towards becoming a higher level judge and also gives participants an excellent understanding of protest procedures and requirements should they, themselves, ever be involved in a protest

Club Umpire – Course outline
The club judge’s course is for good sailors with a solid rules knowlege This is the foundation for gaining experience to becoming a higher level umpire and gives participants an excellent understanding of team and match racing specific
